| What to Expect During the CoolSculpting Procedure CoolSculpting at Skin Thera P™ NY Medical Spa is a comfortable and relaxing procedure where you can read a book or watch free movies and TV shows on our plasma screen while the device does the work. It starts with the application of a thin gel pad on the area to be treated. This gel pad helps the CoolSculpting vacuum applicator to attach to the targeted area and insulates your skin during the treatment. Once the gel pad is in place, the CoolSculpting vacuum applicator is attached to the area of desired fat reduction. The applicator uses suction to gently gather in the excess fat, drawing it in between two cooling panels. |

| When the procedure begins you will feel a cooling sensation and then the treatment area quickly goes numb. You sit or lie down for an hour as the fat inside the applicator is cooled. The surrounding tissue remains unharmed while the fat is being treated. It takes one hour to treat an area. Most patients treat two areas during their visit, such as both love handles or each side of the upper back, making a typical treatment session last two hours. | Questions and answers about CoolSculpting Permanent Fat Reduction
William Greenberg M.D, our onsite medical director, offers complimentary consultations for all of your questions. What is ? CoolSculpting is a revolutionary new method for reducing fat in common problem areas, including back, flank (love handles) and abdominal fat. uses a controlled cooling technology that targets and destroys layers of fat cells from the body, helping you reduce unsightly bulges. How does it work? Coolsculpting is a non-invasive, painless and simple procedure. We place a gel pad and a specialized applicator to deliver cooling to the fat cells in the targeted area. This process, called Cryolipolysis, chills fat cells and stimulates the natural removal of these cells. The fat is then metabolized by your own body. How long does it take? Each CoolSculpting treatment can last anywhere from one to several hours, depending on the size of the area being treated. We will tell you during the consultation how many hours you will require. If you require more than two hours, these sessions can be broken up over several days or can be scheduled all together in one sitting. Is it painful? CoolSculpting is a gentle and entirely non-invasive procedure. It does not require any anesthesia, needles or pain medication. Most patients experience no pain to minimal discomfort during this procedure. While having the procedure you can enjoy a movie through Netflix, watch TV, read a book, listen to music or simply take a nap. While everything necessary will be provided, you are welcome to bring any additional comforts of home such as music, pillows or reading material. Is it safe? The CoolSculpting procedure is performed under the supervision of Dr. William Greenberg in his luxury medical Spa. The technology enables precise, controlled delivery of the cooling that affects only fat cells on your body, ensuring that no surrounding tissue or cells are affected or damaged. Other common methods for destroying fat cells; such as lasers, ultrasound and radio frequency; can impact other cells, posing greater risk to you. Additionally, because CoolSculpting is non-invasive, there is no risk of infection, complications from anesthesia, or other side effects associated with surgery. How long does it take to recover? There is no recovery time required following a CoolSculpting treatment. Patients may resume their daily activities immediately following the procedure. You can even exercise right after the procedure. Mild redness in the treated area can last several minutes up to two weeks. Some people may bruise, which can last up to two weeks. Within the first two weeks you may experience, tingling, tenderness, cramping, itching or soreness. You may feel a temporary dulling sensation in the treated area for up to eight weeks. Side effects may vary and while many patients experience no reaction, others may experience mild side effects. Is CoolSculpting right for me? CoolSculpting is designed for individuals who are healthy and fit, but want to eliminate fat in areas of their body that have not responded well to diet or exercise. While CoolSculpting is a popular and effective alternative to liposuction and other fat reduction focused treatments, it is not a intended for extensive weight loss, nor does it address problems with obesity. To best determine if this is the right treatment for your specific needs, Dr. Greenberg is available for personal consultations at no charge to you. How soon will I see results? You should see results within 2 to 4 months. How long do the effects last? The effects of the treatment are permanent. Fat cells do not reproduce or regenerate. Once the CoolSculpting system eliminates fat cells from your body, they will not reappear; the treated cells are permanently destroyed and eliminated. A healthy lifestyle, with good nutrition and exercise, will maintain the optimal appearance of the achieved results. Can I undergo more than one treatment? After assessing the effects of your first treatment, speak to Dr. Greenberg about whether you could benefit from additional treatments.
