Does the treatment hurt?
Laser Hair removal is virtually painless.
People are amazed by how little laser hair removal hurts compared to their previous experiences with other hair removal methods. Clients may experience a sensation often described as a “hot pinch’, or “snapping” feeling. This sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second, and is followed by warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time. . Our laser hair removal treatment has a built in cooling system on the tip of the laser to help cool the dermis and neutralize any discomfort. We offer pre laser topical anesthetic creams to help alleviate any discomfort.

How does the laser hair removal work?
Our Electro-Optical Synergy ELOS laser uses a unique combination of radio frequency and light. Using two energies instead of one means more effective results for you. Is laser hair removal safe?
There have been many advances in laser hair removal technology that make it one of the safest methods available. The laser used for treatment at Skin Thera PTM is the only laser approved by the FDA for all color, hair and skin colors. There are no long-term health hazards from light or electric energies used.

How frequently do I need treatments?
The treatments are usually performed every 4-8 weeks, but this depends on individual factors that our Clinic Director will discuss with your during your consultation.

What kind of results can I expect from each treatment?
Each treatment will result in a decrease in hair growth as well as in hair that is progressively lighter in color, finer, and slower growing with each treatment. It takes more than 1 treatment to affect all the follicles growing in an area. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after six treatments, but individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors. Lighter colored hair may require more treatments than darker colored hair.

PRE-TREATMENT for New York laser hair removal

Prior to your treatment, we will ask that you follow a few simple instructions:

  1. Stay out of the sun for at least one week prior to treatment. We recommend using a sun block that is effective against both UVA and UVB light.


  2. Shave the area being treated the day of or day before your treatment.


  3. Please do not wax, tweeze on the area of treatment during the course of your treatment course. Shaving is permitted as often as desired. If you have elected to use a topical anesthetic, apply it to your skin in accordance with the product instructions 20-30 min. prior to your scheduled appointment.
POST-TREATMENT for laser hair removal

After your treatment, you may experience some redness or pinkness in the treated area. This is normal and should subside within a day.

We ask that you use adequate sun block if the treated area is to be exposed to the sun.

The hairs that are treated with ELOS during a laser therapy will gradually shed. This is referred to as the “shedding process.” Hair growth has three phases. Multiple sessions are necessary to maximize results
